The Federal Emergency Management Agency maintains detailed flood zones maps and, given Norfolk's susceptibility to flooding, flood info is important climate data. The sanctuary is located in flood zone AE, which according to FEMA,  are areas that present a 1% annual chance of flooding and a 26% chance over the life of a 30 year mortgage. The City of Norfolk also has a flood tool, called TITAN, which provides detailed flood maps of the city at different flood levels above MLLW. Below are images depicting 2 ft, 4 ft, and 6 ft flood levels at Weyanoke. The wetland portion of the sanctuary becomes one of the first areas inundated by flood water.
